We have launched the Flaxmore label with a single vineyard series of wines: our 2018 Pinot Gris and Rosé were released in late 2018 and the Pinot Noir is now available. We are developing several parcels of chardonnay for expected release in 2020.
The 2018 vintage was a challenging year when a summer of climatic perfection started to unravel by early February. This was not entirely dissimilar to recent vintages where good lessons had been learnt: we benefited from aggressive leaf plucking and bunch thinning for optimal airflow and ensuring that a lower yielding crop was able to achieve the ripeness and phenolic structure we desired.
We are delighted that our wines have been awarded 4 stars by leading wine critics Bob Campbell MW and Michael Cooper, as well as received several accolades which are shown below.

Made from our Pinot Noir clones “Abel” and “Dijon 115” this is a subtle Rosé offering a layer of summer fruits, good length on the palate and a slightly dryer finish than the norm for NZ Rosé. Salmon pink in colour - just gently chill for casual or fine dining.
Hand harvested, 50% skin contact (12 hours); 50% whole bunch press; stainless steel tank fermentation using aromatic yeast; kept on “fine lees” post fermentation (4 months). 12.5% Alc/Vol.

Blended from our Pinot Noir clones “Abel” and “Dijon 115”, this fine Pinot Noir has a delicious balance of crushed fruits with savoury undertones. It is broad, textural and very approachable.
Hand harvested; 16 days on skins; wild fermented; natural spring malolactic fermentation; 9 months oak maturation (20% new); coarse filtered.
A delicious Pinot Noir which sits at the European end of the New Zealand Pinot Noir taste spectrum.
